This performance is the first step of a longer and more complex journey‚ Suite-Hope. The project arose from a discussion and some questions related to the theme of hope and its relevance in contemporary reality. The investigation starts with an exodus‚ a departure to another place of possible existence.
Chiara Frigo‚ an author and performer‚ graduated in molecular biology‚ began her career as choreographer in 2006‚ with the solo “Corpo in DoppiaElica” (Double Helix Body) ‚ which won third prize at the 10th Festival of Choreographers Miniatures in Belgrade.
In 2008‚ with her solo “Takeya” she won the GD'A Veneto Anticorpi XL award and that same year the pièce was selected for Aerowaves. In 2009‚ she was invited to participate in Choreoroam‚ a research project developed through choreographic residencies supported by the Operaestate Festival Veneto (Bassano del Grappa)‚ The Place (UK)‚ Dansateliers (Holland)‚ Dansescenen (Denmark)‚ Paso a 2-Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid (Spain) and Dance Week Festival (Hungary).
In 2010‚ she was invited to bring “Takeya” to the Creative Forum at the library of Alexandria‚ Egypt‚ and she was the only Italian choreographer invited to share a course of choreographic research developed between Italy and Canada (Operaestate Veneto Festival‚ Circuit-Est Centre Chorégraphique of Montréal‚ Dance Centre of Vancouver).
In 2011‚ she worked on her new creation‚ “Suite-Hope”‚ chosen among the winners of the competition Residences 2011 de La Caldera - Barcelona‚ supported by the CSC - Centro per la Scena Contemporanea - Operaestate Festival and was the winner of the competition REFORM/Danza 2011/2012 Pim Off - Milan.
“Suite-Hope” was also selected for the network Antibodies XL (in its short version) and the European network Aerowaves 2012.
