YOY performing art. Founded in 2021 by Emma Zani, Roberto Doveri and Timoteo Carbone, the company is a project that weaves together dance, music and the visual arts in a quest for cross-pollination and new forms of expression, establishing itself as a cultural entity based on the sharing of ideas. YoY’s creations have been presented at prestigious national and international festivals and have received recognition from organisations such as Anghiari Dance Hub, Crossing the Sea and Danza Urbana. Over the years, the company has won tenders for the cultural promotion of the Royal Palace of Caserta, created music and choreography for a documentary film produced by LVMH/Masoni, curated the choreography for the opera Song of the Dark Forest for the Scapino Ballet in Rotterdam in 2023, and was selected for Prove d’Autore. In 2024, YoY won the ACASA call for proposals by Scenario Pubblico – Compagnia Zappalà Danza for a two-year residency programme and was a finalist in DNAppunti Coreografici and Twain Direzioni Altre. Winners of Giovane Danza Italiana – YTI Project and Progetto Cura 2025, selected for NID Platform 2025 (Italian Windows), and winners of the SIAE Nuove Opere – Per Chi Crea competition with Solo Sognar ci terrà svegli, presented at Milan Design Week 2025.

Medhat Shafik (El Badari, Egypt, 1956) is a visual artist of international renown who has been working in Italy since 1976. His work blends Egyptian tradition with contemporary experimentation in painting, collage and installations. Among his major accolades are the Golden Lion for Nations for the Egyptian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (1995) and the Nile Grand Prix at the 9th Cairo International Biennale (2003). His works, which feature in public and private collections, are celebrated for their expressive, material and symbolic power. His works can be viewed at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Cairo, and in various Italian museums in Parma, Verona, Palermo, Siena, Piacenza and Milan.
