Contido. Norms and behaviors progressively transform into internalized habits, until they become an integral part of our way of thinking and acting. What really remains of us? Inspired by Jack London’s The Call of the Wild, Contido investigates the process of individual reawakening within the social structures that regulate collective living. At Interplay/26 in a reduced version, the result of careful finishing work, Inês Barros and Lúcia Salgueiro give shape to their repressed instincts. An intense and rigorous physical language, alternating states of control with moments of release, tension with yielding. Movement arises from listening to the body and its relationship with the ground, prioritizing organic dynamics, internal impulses, and progressive transformations in the quality of the gesture. An instinctive, animal and primary physicality emerges. The music specially composed by Marco Santos accompanies and condenses the choreographic material, pushing the meanings towards still unexplored sensory and imaginative territories and without losing the strength and identity of the original work.

Lavanderia a Vapore Corso Pastrengo, 51 Collegno (TO)Companhia de Dança de Almada. Founded by Maria Franco, Ca.DA began its operations as a professional contemporary dance company in 1990. Since then he has produced over one hundred works by national and international choreographers, presented in Portugal and abroad, particularly in Europe (Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland), Africa (Cape Verde), America (Brazil) and Asia (China). Since 1992, Ca.DA has organized the annual Quinzena de Dança de Almada – International Dance Festival, promoting exchange between Portuguese creators and dancers and the international community.
Hugo Marmelada, a young Portuguese, graduated from the Academia de Dança Contemporânea de Setúbal. He has worked as a freelance dancer with choreographers such as Guilherme Botelho, Ohad Naharin, Itamar Serussi, Jo Strømgren and Amanda Miller, and has been a member of international companies such as It Dansa, Carte Blanche and the Batsheva Dance Company. In parallel with his performance activity, he carries out training and coaching activities in various international institutions. Since 2010 he has developed his own choreographic work, which includes the duet II and the solo Stepping Over Stones, presented at the 16° International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival in Stuttgart, where he won the 2° Award for Best Performance and the Audience Award, with subsequent tours in Germany and Brazil. Other works include Connect, Still, you can’t smile with me and collaborations with Jens Trinidad.
