Violetto Bellosguardo. A work by the young Vittorio Porcelli, a performer for Marina Abramović at the Albertina Modern in Vienna, who returns to Italy after training abroad, supported by the Equilibrio Dinamico company. In his latest creation, Violetto Bellosguardo uses gesture, voice and dance to explore the arrogance of youth and the resulting tension between ambition and collapse. He leads the audience into a tragicomic dimension: a masculine reinterpretation of the iconic and thoroughly spoiled Violet Beauregarde from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The lighting plays on contrasts, shifting between blue, purple and amber. The definition of the stage space and the inevitable finale create an evocative atmosphere, reminiscent of the tensions characteristic of the writing of Maggie Nelson, the renowned American poet. Physical movement does not merely describe gestures, but becomes a vehicle for emotional and conceptual storytelling, engaging with the critical and poetic text and marking the rhythm of the performance. The work integrates pop imagery, shared cultural references and visual material, transforming the body into a nexus of relationships between collective memory and individual experience. A light-hearted reverie of liberation that frames the unease of youth through dance, literature and timeless archetypes. The show was selected for the Open Studios of the NID Platform 2025 and presented at the 3rd Performance NOW! Festival (HU), Festival Nutida (IT) and L’Escalier (CH).
