Natural order of things. The latest creation by award-winning choreographers Maria Campos and Guy Nader, the show premiered at the Grec Festival in Barcelona on 3 July 2024, followed by its international premiere at the Venice Dance Biennale on 19 July 2024, and was awarded three MAX Awards in 2025: Best Choreography, Best Female Dancer (Maria Campos) and Best Male Dancer (Alfonso Aguilar). It reminds us that we are not separate from nature; we are nature. The work explores the complexity of self-organising systems found in the natural world, conceived as microcosms: miniature universes composed of a multitude of interdependent organisms. Inspired by the dichotomy of order and disorder, the performance manifests as an invented, living organism, capable of resisting loss of balance and chaotic drift, of continually reorganising itself through precise, harmonious and collective kinetic structures. Bodies are matter in transformation, masses of dynamic possibilities that aggregate, separate and sustain one another in an uninterrupted flow. The work finds perspective even in the most extreme challenges, recognising the perceptible patterns of the universe and nature as tools for survival, connection and renewed balance.
