Carlo Massari. His training and professional career have been shaped by experiences that have alternated between drama and musical theatre, eventually leading him to dance and physical theatre. Over the years, he has collaborated as a performer with the Venice Biennale, Barbara Nativi, Marco Baliani, Teatro dell’Argine, TeatroDue, Cie Balletto Civile, Cie Abbondanza-Bertoni, Cie della Rancia and Cie Petri Dish. In 2011, he founded the C&C Company with Chiara Taviani, a research and production company specialising in dance theatre, of which he became Artistic Director. In 2020,In 2020, he received the CollaborActionXL award from the AnticorpiXL Network. Massari has directed operas for the Klaipėda State Music Theatre and created choreographies for major institutions such as the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Landestheater Salzburg, collaborating with prominent directors such as Damiano Michieletto, Silvia Paoli and Andrea Bernard. In 2025, the merger of C&C Company and Sanpapié Company gave rise to SPaCCa — an acronym combining the two companies — a shared artistic direction project led by Lara Guidetti and Carlo Massari. The result of a partnership between two mature and complementary artistic visions, SPaCCa has established itself on the international scene as a centre for choreographic research and interdisciplinary production.
