OPEN CALL – Living Lab
Are you looking for new stimuli? Are you developing a new choreographic project that explores the relationship with nature and/or issues of environmental sustainability? Do you need a space that is isolated but at the same time in contact with the city?
This opportunity is just for you!
We are pleased to present the Living Lab, the new open-air campus of Mosaico Danza, a place that combines emerging creativity, choreographic research and environmental sustainability, where artistic creation finds the opportunity to reconnect with nature and the surrounding environment.
Surrounded by the woods of the Turin hills, equipped with structures powered exclusively by renewable energy sources, a large open-air stage and a breathtaking view of the city of Turin, Living Lab is a unique choreographic centre.
To support the artistic practices and initiatives of young professional artists working in the performing arts, contemporary dance and choreography, the residency lasts 10 days for a young emerging collective or company. The artists have the opportunity to gain experience in direct contact with nature, giving free rein to their creativity.
The work developed during the residency will be presented in Open Rehearsal format at the end of the residency period.
What we are looking for
- An emerging informal collective/ company/ group, with a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 2 people (dancer*, musician*, dramaturg, writer* or other individuals relevant to the creative process)
- Submission of a choreographic research project in which an interest and willingness to develop an interconnected dialogue between dance,
performing arts, in a space closely connected with nature emerges - People inclined to live independently in nature
- Possibility of issuing an invoice for the agreed economic support and making the staff involved available for the days of the residency
What we offer
- 10-day choreographic residency from 16 to 25 September (with arrival on 15 September and departure on 26 September)
- Total fee (including vat) of € 1,800 to cover all expenses (artistic fee, travel and per diem)
- Accommodation for up to 4 people in a 20 sqm Canva tent
- Possibility to work on a 7 x 9 metre outdoor stage
- Sound system (2 rechargeable speakers, 2 microphones)
- Equipped kitchen at the artists’ disposal h24
- Compost toilet
- Solar shower

- A choreographic project that you believe could be enriched with stimuli and developments, through an Open Air residency strictly connected to a space immersed in nature, where a relationship between performing arts and nature could emerge (pdf, max 2 pages)
- A presentation dossier of your previous works with photos and links to videos (pdf, max 4 pages)
- A cover letter from which the artistic need to interconnect your creation with a natural context emerges (pdf, max 1 page)
The Living Lab was realised with the support of the EU-funded PNRR TOCC for Ecological Transition for Creative Bodies – Next Generation EU.
The artistic programming is supported as part of FREE SEED Sconfinamenti, the winning project of the public notice “Torino, what a culture!”, financed with PN METRO PLUS AND SOUTH MEDIUM CITIES 2021-2027 – TO7.5.1.B – SUPPORT OF THE URBAN ECONOMY IN THE CULTURE SECTOR.
