Mosaico Dance has been working in the Piedmont region for almost 20 years‚ with activities devoted to the support‚ promotion and dissemination of young original contemporary dance‚ both nationally and internationally. Not only through their INTERPLAY Festival‚ now in its 12th season‚ but also thanks to the INSIDE/OFF festival of contemporary dance work-in-progress‚ now in its 5th edition. These are important events that characterize Mosaico Dance as a point of reference for the emerging realities of the new European contemporary dance scene.

In recent years Mosaico Dance has fostered national and international mobility for different events of 11 choreographers from Turin and many Italians regions‚ supporting their touring to participate in festivals‚ choreographic residencies and events in in Germany‚ Brazil‚ France‚ Great Britain‚ Denmark‚ Canada and Holland... thanks to their work with the two international networks‚ Les Reperages\Le Gymnase CDC (France and Belgium respectively)‚ encompassing 19 organizations from around the world and Dance Roads‚ which organizes the biennial tour of young artists representing the member countries (Canada‚ Italy‚ England‚ Holland and France).
There has been a recent annexation of a major new global network which includes about 40 partners‚ for the support and visibility of urban dance: Ciudades Que Danzan\Festival of Dance in Urban Landscapes‚ based in Spain.
Mosaico Dance is also a partner representing Piedmont‚ along with the Piedmont Theatre Circuit‚ in the ANTICORPI XL network (21 organizers from 14 Italian regions)‚ the first and only "significant and concrete example of promotion of the newest generation of Italian choreographers" as recognized by the pool of critics of Danza&Danza magazine when it was the recipient in 2010 of the Official Award in the Operators category.
More recently‚ since 2009‚ Mosaico Dance has participated together with with TPE-Piedmont Theatre in Europe in the Italian-French project Common Markets / Marches Communs‚ supported by the Euro-regional program Alcotra. The initiative aims to bring dance to the urban areas of the cities involved (Turin‚ Genoa‚ Marseille‚ Lyon‚ Avignon‚ Rillieux-la-pape‚ Bordeaux).
Finally‚ Mosaico Dance has carried out some collaborations with museums such as Turin’s Gallery of Modern Art - GAM‚ Noire Contemporary Art‚ the Merz Foundation and associations (such as Artegiovane for the Video.it series) and other institutions close to the world of performance‚ according to a multi-disciplinary approach and networking in the area.

IL FESTIVAL \ INTERPLAY

INTERPLAY Festival is the longest running reality in the region for the support and promotion of the young original dance. Every year it has presented the best of the new and emerging contemporary dance‚ offering the performances both in theaters and in urban areas of the city‚ by companies from around the world: Canada‚ Israel‚ Germany‚ Holland‚ Japan‚ Brazil‚ Belgium‚ Denmark‚ Finland‚ Spain and France as well as from Italy.
Interplay is the only Italian festival included in the three international networks‚ CQD-Ciudades Que Danzan‚ Les Repérages and Dance Roads; it is the partner for Piedmont of the national network‚ Anticorpi XL ‚ and has been part of the Piedmont Theatre Circuit since 2010.

LA STAGIONE \ INSIDE/OFF

INSIDE\OFF - Contemporary Dance Work In Progress‚ is closely related to the programming of the Interplay Festival‚ but with actions aimed at supporting young choreographers from our territory‚ through the offer of choreographic residencies‚ production support and mobility.

METROPOLITAN BLITZ

Mosaico Danza organizes METROPOLITAN BLITZES; dance moments in non−theatrical‚ unconventional alternative spaces‚ such as display windows of stores in the city center‚ on the streets‚ and in particularly fascinating spaces... quick‚ brief and precise “happenings” created according to new architectural structures and especially aimed at a new‚ heterogeneous and unknown audience‚ taking the shape of new show “formats” which mix choreography with performance art‚ happenings‚ body art...

CHOREOGRAPHIC RESIDENCIES

Choreographic residencies have been created in collaboration with several choreographic centers in Europe‚ with which we have different shared projects. Both as to the offer with regard to the period of the creative residency for the choreographers supported by our centers‚ and for projects of shared residency‚ structured so as to provide an opportunity for two young choreographers from different cities or countries to have a chance to work together for a while‚ and perform‚ both in our performance space and those of the European partners participating in the project with us.

The centers abroad we collaborate with are:
Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois TROIS C-L in Luxembourg
Centre de Documentacao e pesquisa em danca de Rio de Janeiro in Brazil
Choreographic DanceHouse/DanceEast – Ipswich in England
Zodiak‚ Center for new dance in Helsinki‚ Finland
DanceHouse for independent contemporary dance in North Carlton in Australia
Tanztendenz Choreographic Center in Munich‚ Germany

In Italy‚ the choreographic residency project is coordinated with our partners of the ANTICORPI XL network .

Currently‚ a shared residency exchange is taking place between Mosaico Dance and the Cantieri (Construction Sites) Association of Ravenna and the Urban Dance Festival in Bologna‚ for a residency in Parma at the headquarters of EuropaTeatri (EuropeTheatres).

Shared Choregraphic Residency

A new opportunity has opened up within the choreographic residencies for a pilot project that has been practically non-existent in Italy until now; shared choreographic residency. The project has been conceived and implemented in collaboration with other national and international choreographic centers in order to give choreographers from Piedmont the opportunity to work in creative harmony with choreographers residing in other countries or regions at their choreographic centers for a set period of time...
This is what happens with the Correios Em Movimento Festival‚ which took place for two weeks in August 2011 in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil‚ hosting some Italian choreographers we sponsor‚ many of whom are from Turin ( Aldo Torta‚ Stefano Botti‚ Ambra Senatore‚ Daniele Ninarello...). It also happens with the choreographic center Trois-C in Luxembourg‚ with the choreographic center Tanztendenz in Munich‚ Germany‚ with the Dance House Est in Great Britain‚ with MAINS D’OEUVRES – the center for artistic creation and dissemination of emerging artists in Paris‚ and with eUROPA tEATRI of Parma in collaboration with the Cantieri Association of Ravenna and the festival Danza Urbana in Bologna‚ Italy.
